Foldable boxes have gained significant popularity among both brands and consumers in recent years due to their unique advantages. They offer significant savings in transportation and storage costs by reducing space requirements. Additionally, they are cost-effective to produce, easy to sell, display, and use, and can be reused. Combining functionality with environmental friendliness, foldable boxes have become a preferred choice for many. International luxury brands like Lancôme, LV, and Prada have already adopted this packaging solution. There are eight common foldable box structures.
A five-board foldable box, also known as a classic export foldable box or a one-piece foldable box, resembles a book when assembled. It typically consists of one cover and two sideboards and may include additional components such as magnets, metal sheets, linings, and double-sided adhesive.
The two-piece foldable box, also known as the card-style foldable box, requires only two pieces of cardboard to create an exquisite packaging box. Its clever structural design makes assembly extremely easy, without the need for any glue or magnets, making it both practical and eco-friendly. The cardboard uses the grey board with special paper on both sides, featuring a simple process and high cost-effectiveness.
This style of foldable box has become very popular in recent years. It has two more boards and a paper tab compared to the traditional five-board foldable box. The two additional boards can be parallel or crossed within the main cover, securing the inner box when assembled. Its advantage is that it requires no double-sided tape or magnets. However, it involves more processes and is more expensive.
This is a side foldable box. The inner box has double-sided adhesive pre-applied to its bottom, allowing for easy assembly by simply sliding it into place. Depending on customer needs or specific production requirements, the cover of the outer box may be scored or fully separated. In addition to paperboard variations, foldable boxes can be combined with other classic box styles to create more sophisticated gift boxes.
This is a lid-and-base box, primarily composed of one top lid, one cover, and two side boards. The lid is relatively short and does not require folding, while the base is taller and designed with a foldable structure for easy storage and transportation, thereby reducing costs.
The foldable drawer box resembles a traditional drawer box and consists mainly of an inner box and a sleeve. The sleeve is made from gray board wrapped with paper and can also be folded. The inner box uses a five-board foldable structure with two internal boards to secure the box, eliminating the need for double-sided tape.
Besides drawer boxes, there are high-end foldable gift boxes with a double-opening structure. They are easy to open and close, and the lids can be folded flat when opened. The sides of the inner box also fold flat, making storage and transportation easier and reducing labor costs, offering great value.
Triangular foldable gift boxes typically use an integrated design with magnetic closures. The handles can be made of paper or ribbon. The unique triangular shape offers a distinctive appeal, completely transforming the traditional box design.
